![]() Normal is really average and Hard is hard. There are hardly any nasty corners and edges here, which is great.Įpic Racers is definitely a lot of fun. You simply don’t get stuck on every freaking edge and lose 4 places. The controls are also more comfortable in Epic Racers, because the complete level designs are not as tight as in SMK. Drifting can and should still be done, of course, depending on your character, but it’s not as overused as in Super Parigo Kart. The controls are less wobbly, which just feels a lot more comfortable while driving. Oh yeah, all the things I disliked about the Super Mario Kart controls have been corrected in Epic Racers. But there is still a small deduction, because it is completely recycled music. Nevertheless, the SMK music is of course very good. Therefore, Epic Racers has nothing new to offer here. The music and sound effects have been completely taken over from Super Mario Kart. That’s really nice, a feature I always wanted. So 7th place gets one point and 6th place gets 2 points and so on. Because for every place but the 8th you get one point. ![]() But it’s fun to lay or even throw a turd instead of a banana.Īpart from that, it doesn’t matter which place you occupy. For example, there’s a track where you have to drive into a pond and then you’re taken to another point on the track where you just keep going.Įven the new items in Epic Racers are cool, even if they just have different graphics. These do not necessarily play as you know it from Super Mario Kart. You can expect 20 completely new tracks, some of which are really innovative. Not only that, I rarely had the impression that the game suffered from slowdowns.Īlso, the complete menu navigation has simply become a bit fancier and that should be mentioned.Ī total of 8 completely new drivers are available. ![]() Both the backgrounds and the driver sprites are animated in more detail. The graphics of Epic Racers are actually better than Super Mario Kart. The Dragon Ball inspired track is also quite cool. The sky world in particular stands out extremely positively. Instead, you have nice interesting worlds, some of which have a spiritual touch. The levels aren’t as colorful and gimmicky as SMK or Parigo Kart. The characters come from all over the world and I have to admit that I have no idea who they are supposed to be, except for Jesus of course. The style of Epic Racers is clearly different, but absolutely successful. In terms of atmosphere, Epic Racers does very well, just like Super Mario Kart.
![]() ![]() The technique is taught as a metacognitive technique in learning-to-learn courses. An anonymous individual has used the method of loci to memorise pi to over 65,536 (2 16) digits. The 2006 World Memory Champion, Clemens Mayer, used a 300-point-long journey through his house for his world record in "number half marathon", memorising 1040 random digits in a half-hour. Eight-time World Memory Champion Dominic O'Brien uses this technique. Memory champions elaborate on this by combining images. Cooke also advises that the more outlandish and vulgar the symbol used to memorize the material, the more likely it will stick. First, he describes a very familiar location where he can clearly remember many different smaller locations like his sink in his childhood home or his dog's bed. For example, Ed Cooke, a Grand Master of Memory, describes to Josh Foer in his book Moonwalking with Einstein how he uses the method of loci. They then translate this back to the associated item. To recall, they retrace the route, "stop" at each locus, and "observe" the image. Then in the competition they need only deposit the image that they have associated with each item at the loci. They have also committed to long-term memory a familiar route with firmly established stop-points or loci. In a simple method of doing this, contestants, using various strategies well before competing, commit to long-term memory a unique vivid image associated with each item. Part of the competition requires committing to memory and recalling a sequence of digits, two-digit numbers, alphabetic letters, or playing cards. Contemporary memory competition, in particular the World Memory Championship, was initiated in 1991 and the first United States championship was held in 1997. Many effective memorisers today resort to the "method of loci" to some degree. It is also known as the "Journey Method", used for storing lists of related items, or the "Roman Room" technique, which is most effective for storing unrelated information. The method relies on memorized spatial relationships to establish order and recollect memorial content. ![]() The items to be remembered in this mnemonic system are mentally associated with specific physical locations. The efficacy of this technique has been well established (Ross and Lawrence 1968, Crovitz 1969, 1971, Briggs, Hawkins and Crovitz 1970, Lea 1975), as is the minimal interference seen with its use. Retrieval of items is achieved by 'walking' through the loci, allowing the latter to activate the desired items. When desiring to remember a set of items the subject 'walks' through these loci in their imagination and commits an item to each one by forming an image between the item and any feature of that locus. In this technique the subject memorizes the layout of some building, or the arrangement of shops on a street, or any geographical entity which is composed of a number of discrete loci. "the method of loci", an imaginal technique known to the ancient Greeks and Romans and described by Yates (1966) in her book The Art of Memory as well as by Luria (1969). The term is most often found in specialised works on psychology, neurobiology, and memory, though it was used in the same general way at least as early as the first half of the nineteenth century in works on rhetoric, logic, and philosophy. ![]() Many memory contest champions report using this technique to recall faces, digits, and lists of words. This method is a mnemonic device adopted in ancient Roman and Greek rhetorical treatises (in the anonymous Rhetorica ad Herennium, Cicero's De Oratore, and Quintilian's Institutio Oratoria). The method of loci is also known as the memory journey, memory palace, journey method, memory spaces, or mind palace technique. The method of loci is a strategy for memory enhancement, which uses visualizations of familiar spatial environments in order to enhance the recall of information. Cicero discussed the method of loci in his De Oratore. ![]() ![]() ![]() Fund transfers are free and speedy (they typically take one business day) and accounts are protected by bank-grade security and encryption. As you meet with other leaders and individuals of the many different factions, both tightly under the thumb of the Board and strictly in opposition to it, the Stranger must choose who to side with and aid. To skip ahead without providing too many spoilers, the Stranger learns how the greed and incompetence of the Board has left the colonies in the Halcyon System on the point of ruin. Making their way to the town, the Stranger meets a gravedigger on the outskirts of town and is informed that if they require a power converter, they should talk with Reed Tobson, the town’s Mayor. It is up to the stranger to acquire one from the local town of Edgewater. ![]() Unfortunately, the Unreliable is without a power converter. She tells the Stranger that she can only fly under the command of Captain Hawthorne and implies under subtext that the stranger takes up the guise of Hawthorne. Onboard Hawthorne’s ship known as the Unreliable, the Stranger meets with the ship’s AI called ADA. After helping them with their bandit problem, the authorities waiver the impounded fees as thanks. The Stranger finds the ship on the verge of being impounded by the local authorities. Forced to improvise, the Stranger is advised by Welles to take Hawthorne’s ship and continue on to find the resources. However, the plan does not go accordingly and Hawthorne finds himself flattened under the Stranger’s escape pod. The plan was to rendezvous with a man called Alex Hawthorne. The Stanger is jettisoned from the Hope in an escape pod and onto the nearby planet Terra 2. Welles enlists the help of the passenger (who we will now refer to as the Stranger) to procure resources that will help him awaken the other passengers on the ship. In 2355, 70 years after the Hope left Earth and went missing, an enigmatic scientist (though I suppose mad scientist is more appropriate) called Phineas Welles finds the ship and manages to resuscitate one of the passengers (the passenger is the character that you will play as for the duration of the game). Something happened on board that caused the ship to be lost for 60 years. The Groundbreaker made the trip successfully. As the journey to the new planets took 10 years to reach, the colonists on board were put into cryogenic sleep and are awoken when they reach their destination. The ships were the Hope and the Groundbreaker. In 2285, two large colony ships from Earth set off to colonize two planets in the Halcyon system: Terra 1 and Terra 2. As the Board colonized and terraformed the different planets of the Halcyon System, they encouraged the residents of Earth to leave their home planet and help in the colonization effort. Thanks to the invention of the Skip Drive, intergalactic travel from Earth to the new colonies became possible. The Corporations are referred to collectively as The Board. Mega-Corporations have colonized planets in the far reaches of Space and in particular, the Halcyon System. The Outer Worlds is set in an alternate future in 2355. You just do 'git status' to see if you have to pull/push/commit changes to keep up with the origin.Īdditional space usage can also have other reasons. In practice, people just don't worry about this since git magically takes care of it. git clone ssh://host/path/repo cd repo git annex init git annex get. git-annex allows managing large files with. In cases like yours (where you host that storage yourself), you dont need any special remote then - the regular (typically but not necessarily bare) git repository you use as your origin can also store the large files, and can be used by a later checkout just as. And hosts like GitHub/GitLab have file size restrictions. There's an old (2007-2008?) talk of Linus Torvalds about git you can watch on Youtube where IIRC he also speaks about the data integrity side of things. One of the limitations of git has always been that it couldn't handle very large files. Git hosting services like Github do have file size limits (even with LFS). While Git can technically handle arbitrarily large files, it will be very slow in indexing them. If the checksums didn't match, git would complain a lot on checkout. Git is not meant to handle binary files in the first place, as their contents are not necessarily incremental (as with text/code) so no 'delta saving' either. Every step in git is checksummed, against the data, metadata, and previous it's kind of like a blockchain, if the data changed anywhere so the checksums would too. If the git log (or even just the hash of the last commit) is identical then so is the data. (Note that, as with built-in special remotes, credentials are only. basically this is a guarantee provided by git, the data you put in is the data you get out. git-annex enableremote causes INITREMOTE to be called, so any credentials can be stored etc. with folders and subfolders) datasets without using git and git-annex. There is also a garbage collector ( git gc) that would remove dangling and other superfluous stuff.Īs for data integrity. For GIN we currently support a read-only implementation of the WebDAV. ![]() Git has a built in sanity check ( git fsck) that would point out generic problems with the git metadata structure. When something is recorded in git-annex, the raw data is a separate storage area, and only links to that and the metadata is distributed using regular git. ![]() ![]() ![]() Players move her around the kitchen to bake, frost, and top cakes per customers orders. The first thing to realize about Revengeance is that if you are expecting stealth based gameplay like you are used to in the Metal Gear Solid games then you are in the wrong place. Raiden can sneak up on enemies for a ninja kill and skulk about in a cardboard box if you wish, but this is not what the game is about and attempting to play it like Raiden is Snake will just end in tears. ![]() Just give one of Raidens’ comrades a call while inside a cardboard box to hear their opinion on a highly advanced cyborg ninja hiding from enemies in a box. Storywise the game is set four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4. Raiden is now working for a private military company called Maveric Securities and comes to blows with Desperado Enterprises who seem to have their own agenda. In typical Metal Gear tradition the plot involves lots of talk about war economy and politics, but Raiden’s main concern is saving some orphans from a very tragic fate. It’s not the deepest or most engaging story I’ve seen in a game, but it does provide ample of excuses for running around and cutting enemies into bacon thin strips. If you have played games like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden or indeed previous Platinum Games hit, Bayonetta, you will know what to expect from Revengeance.
